Maurice Duruflé
The Requiem by Maurice Duruflé is based on the meditative plainchant melodies of the early church. Duruflé’s compositional style is ethereal and transcendent, with polyphonic sections that are reminiscent of the most beautiful Renaissance motets. A master organist, Duruflé’s compositional style allows the instrument to be subtle and powerful – almost in the same breath. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear one of the great choral masterworks of the twentieth century.
